Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages from Indo-European family. Its ancient forms Vedic and Rigveda were used already in 1500 BCE.

Its recent form is one from 22 official languages of India and is used as liturgical language of Hinduism and other Indian religions.

Beside India it is used also in Sri Lanka, Nepal, China - almost 50 000 fluent speakers.
