Introduction

Somdutta is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts with English Honours at Presidency College in Kolkata (India), and has ranked second in her first year university finals. A winner of such honours as the ‘Children of India Award’ conferred by the International Society for Women Development and Child Care and the ‘Swami Vivekananda Samman’ in the Avantika International Talent Search Competition during her school years, she has served as a prominent student leader/representative in school. In college, she has taken up voluntary action with such international organizations as WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and NABUUR (the global neighbour network), and in addition, is attempting to promote education among street children.

Interests

Somdutta's passion for writing has won her various accolades and has encouraged her to take up activities such as citizen journalism, literary groups, blogging and editorial training. Some of her works have gained exposure in various local and global publications, including in The Telegraph (India) and the international VoicesNet anthologies. She is an active member of literary groups, an amateur photographer and a film enthusiast. She is enthusiastic about music and social networking. Somdutta intends to pursue a career in media and communications, and is also inclined towards environmental and social activism.

NABUUR Work

Somdutta serves as a voluntary storyteller at Nabuur. She has written the Koliyonkulam stories 'Running for a Cause' and 'Shop to Support'. As a Nabuur neighbour, she has also constructed the Nabuur wikipedia page. Somdutta intends to act as a Nabuur facilitator for the education of street children in near future.
